Award winning travel organizations share their global vision

At a small, casual, cordial luncheon in New York, the topic of discussion was creating sustainable luxury travel that enrich not only the traveler’s experience, but the destination itself.

Attendees included a noble prize winning economist, a world renowned chef and restaurateur, and the head of an international preservationist organization. But they were not the guests of honor. That designation was left to representatives of organizations that were being recognized for their efforts in creating travel options that are sustainable and enriching on many levels.

The winners were from all parts of the world and all segments of the luxury travel industry. Those who were able to attend the October 21 discussion at The Lambs Club at The Chatwal Hotel represented an architectural firm; several lodging companies, big and small; tour companies; and an international airline. They were among the 18 travel organizations that were the recipients of the 2011 Global Vision Awards, presented by Travel + Leisure magazine.
