Ctrip posts lower Q4 profit, despite revenue rise

Hotel reservation revenues amounted to RMB400 million for the fourth quarter, representing an 11% increase year-on-year mainly driven by an increase in hotel reservation volume.

Ctrip.com International, Ltd. reported net income for the fourth quarter of RMB 252.5 million, compared to RMB 302.3 million for the year-ago quarter.

Total revenue for the fourth quarter rose 18% to RMB 986.60 million from RMB 835.14 million a year earlier.

Hotel reservation revenues amounted to RMB400 million for the fourth quarter, representing an 11% increase year-on-year mainly driven by an increase in hotel reservation volume. Air ticket booking revenues for the fourth quarter rose 18% year-over-year to RMB378 million, mainly driven by an increase in air ticketing sales volume.

Packaged-tour revenues for the fourth quarter surged 29% from a year ago to RMB130 million due to the increase of leisure travel volume.

For the first quarter, the company expects to continue the net revenue growth year-on-year at a rate of about 15% to 20%.
