ebookers unveils the £100,000 Getaway Game on Facebook
January 19, 2012 | Online Travel
ebookers.com launches one of the travel industry’s biggest ever pan-European Facebook sweepstake across 12 markets. The ebookers ‘£100,000 Getaway Game’ has been developed to strengthen its ongoing ‘Book Easier, Travel Happier’ brand campaign.
Alongside TV and outdoor advertising for its ‘Travel Happier January Sale’ - offering up to 50% off hotels - the online travel agent is rolling out a Facebook competition offering £100,000 worth of holiday prizes, which can be found at facebook.com/ebookers. All prizes include flights and accommodation for two adults – some inclusive of car hire – at some of the most sought after destinations. Imagine a 5 night escape to Mauritius in a 5 star luxury hotel inclusive of breakfast and golf!
Guillaume Cussac, Regional Managing Director, ebookers.com, said: “We see the growing importance of social media within travel, which is one of the reasons we’re hosting our biggest ever holiday giveaway on Facebook. This campaign is the starting point of an ongoing conversation we want to begin with fans, offering them tangible benefits such as travel tips and advice, early access to exclusive ebookers offers and flash sales.
“Alongside our wider ATL campaign, the competition is the latest phase in our ongoing brand campaign and forms part of our drive to become the best loved travel brand. It also sits alongside our mobile offering, including the award winning ebookersExplorer App, which pulls together socially-generated content from across the internet and presents it in a magazine format. The competition will be one of a number of initiatives we’re intending to run throughout 2012.”
The Facebook competition – created by the Facebook preferred developer agency KRDS – uses a simple ‘spot the odd one out’ mechanism based on pictures of destinations and users can play it in just four clicks of the computer’s mouse. If the player gives the correct answer, they are entered into a daily prize draw to win a trip to the destination of the day. As a bonus, they have an additional chance of winning by recommending the game to friends. For example, if that friend wins a prize, the person who recommended them will win the second prize holiday on offer. The game will run for a period of two weeks with holidays to destinations such as Rome, Las Vegas, Dubai, Cape Town, Curacao and Mauritius up for grabs.
