November 11, 2011 | Online Travel

Similar to the UK, Google Spain is also publishing a regularly updated paper on seasonal travel destination trends of Spanish travelers, based on search data from Google Spain.

Snow was by far the Group that grew the most in November vs. October of last year. It grew 46% in October and already represents almost 5% of all destination queries. We can expect this behaviour to increase considerably during the following months.

Of the snow destinations, mostly all will be focused in Spanish resorts. Other destinations of interest are ones in Andorra and France.

Spanish Travellers looking for a little sun during the winter vacation will be searching for Beaches/Islands, especially the Canary Islands.

Last year, searches for the Canary Islands grew 56% in November vs. October, and already show a 35% YTD growth, so expect increased activity for this destination.

Be aware of high rising destinations and those performing particularly well in 2011 like Thailand, Camboya or Estonia, usually providing more value to travel players.

Other high value added destinations showing healty growth are Brugges, Alaska, Bali and Qatar.
