Facing the largest Seattle-area headquarters move in recent memory, Expedia Inc. is experimenting with workspace designs and features in a test office near its future home campus.
Bellevue-based Expedia will eventually have 4,500 employees at its new Seattle headquarters, the former Amgen campus in Interbay. The online travel company has about 275 workers in a nearby test office that Expedia leased in early 2016 at Martin Selig Real Estate’s 645 Elliott building.
The lease for the 38,000-square-foot office runs through the end of 2019, when the online travel company plans to move from Bellevue to Seattle.
Expedia runs thousands of tests across its product, engineering and marketing teams every year using the scientific method. The company is applying the same "test and learn" philosophy to understand how employees will fit into the new headquarters and identify which spaces are most useful and which would be wasted.
