Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) launches online hotel reviews, where visitors of slh.com can now read real user reviews to assist with their booking decision. Only members of the SLH Club, which is complimentary to join, will be invited to submit a review after the second time staying at an SLH hotel, to ensure authentic reviews. Reviews, both positive and constructive, appear on the Reviews tab on each hotel's individual web page at slh.com along with customer images, videos and top tips for future stays. Each hotel will receive a five point rating based on service, accommodation, food and overall experience.
Per a 2011 study by global research company, Forrester, nearly 50% of consumers will not book a hotel without referencing online reviews. SLH is keeping ahead of the curve and joining hospitality brands to provide future guests with first-hand reviews from verified Club members of their experience at various SLH properties around the world.
Club members who have stayed with SLH twice or more will be invited, by way of a "Welcome Home" email, to submit a review about their recent stay. They simply need to log in with their Club membership details and complete the online review form. The review then goes through a gatekeeper and will appear on slh.com on the Reviews tab of the hotel page within three days. SLH will verify the author using their Club membership details. The hotel will be able to comment on the reviews as needed and SLH will encourage these exchanges. "We want to engage the customer so they feel like their voice is being heard during the stay and has a lasting impression long after," says Paul Kerr, CEO for Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
The launch of SLH's online hotel reviews comes on the heels of a huge investment and focus in online and social interfaces. The SLH website, slh.com, is now available in both an iPad and a mobile-friendly format allowing on-the-go users to browse and book SLH's impressive collection of over 520 luxury hotels in more than 70 countries. The number of web visitors accessing the site through smart phones and iPads has doubled in 2012 YTD, from 18% in 2012 compared with 9% in 2011 and is only expected to looking forward.
