You can cut the cost of a holiday by hundreds of pounds simply by clearing your internet browsing history before you use a booking website, Money can reveal. Our investigation has discovered that you can be charged considerably more for trips booked through Expedia, Opodo and Virgin Holidays, or be denied access to cheaper flights, if you use a computer that has a record of searches for information on subjects such as your intended destination.
Opodo quoted a price of £1,215 per person last week for a holiday for two in San Francisco from August 11-18, flying from Manchester.
However, it was possible to buy an identical deal for £1,173 per person - a saving of £84 for a couple - by removing the computer’s “cookies.”
